A Little Visitor for the Weekend

WOW! What a weekend. A nine week old puppy was being passed around campus due to someone buying him and then no one being able to take care of him! This poor little ones name is Brody, he is a fun-loving, energetic, curious little guy. Due to my love for dogs, someone reached out to me asking if I would be able to care for him, and of course I said YES!
On top of my classes, school work, work, and my own dog, Timber, I now had a brand new puppy to care for. Thank goodness Timber loved having Brody in our home. Timber and Brody played all weekend together, it made fostering this puppy for a week so much easier than I was anticipating. Trust me when I stay that it was still difficult! I felt like I had a toddler and a new born in my home!
Knowing that right now is not the right time to add another little one to my little family, I reached out to the foster mom that I adopted Timber from. The foster mom, Jen, reached out to the non-kill shelter she works with, Family Additions Dog Rescue. The rescue was able to add Brody to their rescue, but rather than him living in a shelter, Jen is able to foster him until he gets adopted! I was crying tears of joy when she said she would be able to foster him. Since I had gone through the adoption process to adopt Timber, I know that they will do a thorough background check before letting Brody go to his forever home!
Timber and I were able to keep Brody until yesterday, January 21st, 2018. Both Timber and I were practically in tears when giving Brody to his new foster home but Brody did not have a care in the world! Rather than being in my apartment at school, he now had two new friends to play with as well as a huge fenced in yard to explore.
It seemed like fate, bringing Brody to Jen to foster. Timbers original name was Hooper and his brothers name was Quinn. Jen and her husband chose these two names from one of their favorite movie, Jaws. Jaws had three characters in it, Hooper, Quinn, and you probably guess it... Brody! Jen and her husband had always wished they had a third brother for Quinn and Hooper before they were adopted, just so they could name him Brody! Now less than a year later, they finally get to foster their Brody.
Today Brody had his first vet appointment and he did GREAT! The rescue believes that Brody will be adopted within the next couple of weeks due to his age and his amazing personality. Even though it was a long weekend, it was amazing and emotional. Even though I miss Brody a tremendous amount, I am extremely proud of myself for doing the responsible and the mature thing by finding him a forever home. Many people tried to convince me to keep him, that I could do it, I could care for another little one. I just knew in my heart that Brody would be able to find a forever home that has the ability to give him as much love as I could give him, but with a larger yard and hopefully another pup to play with!
